1964 24 Jun The Minister of Education, Mr. Ong Pang Boon, officially declared the school open as "Balestier Hill Integrated Secondary Technical School," one of the first six secondary technical schools to be opened in Singapore. It stood on Balestier Hill, named after Joseph Balestier, the first United States Consul of Singapore. It was also an "integrated" school because there were both Chinese and English streams. Mr. Cheong Pak Lo was then the principal.

  • 1968 Mr. Wong Kai Ping took over as principal.
  • 1975 The school song was rewritten by two teachers Mrs Chew Y.C. and Mr. Yeo S.B.
  • 1986 The school became completely English stream.
  • 1987 The Alumni Association has its inaugural AGM.
  • 1989 Balestier Hill hosted the lst Parents' Day.
  • 1989 School celebrated its Silver Jubilee.
  • 1991 School instituted the Pastoral Care and Career Guidance (PCCG) Programme and Cognitive Research Trust (CoRT) Programmes.
  • 1992 The School was renamed Balestier Hill Secondary School.
  • 1992 The school organised the first Graduation Day for Sec 4E/5N pupils.
  • 1992 December - The school was relocated from Balestier Road to Dunearn Road to facilitate the building of new premises.
  • 1994 The first Balestierian of the Year Award was given to the pupil who not only performed well in studies and ECA, but also contributed valuable service to the school.
  • 1997 Handing-Over Ceremony and School in operation at new site.
  • 1998 Ms Chan initiated the change of the old school crest into the present school logo.
  • 2000 The school was officially opened by Mr Sinnakaruppan, MP, Kreta Ayer - Tanglin GRC (Moulmein Div).
  • 2001 Rangoon Secondary School merged with Balestier Hill Secondary School.
  • 2004 Launch of School Heritage Gallery by alumus, Mr Ron Sim, CEO of OSIM Pte Ltd
  • 2007 Monk's Hill Secondary School merge with Balestier Hill Secondary School. The merged school will be known as Balestier Hill Secondary School and will operate from the current site at 11, Novena Rise.
