Baldwin Boys High School

Baldwin Boys High School (BBHS) is one of the three oldest schools in Bangalore, India, the others being St. Joseph's Boys High school and Bishop Cotton Boys School.
The school was established by the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1880, with a monetary grant from the Honorable John Baldwin, Ohio, USA. It was known as the Episcopal Methodist School and was managed by a board of governors. The school recently celebrated its 126th anniversary. The school has a big ground with a swimming pool attached to it and also it has a small field for hockey and basket ball. The school has a strength of around 4,000 students, and its sister school - Baldwin Girls High School has around the same number. It follows the ICSE syllabus. It offers classes up to the 10th Grade.
"Integretas et Veritas" - "Righteousness and Truth" are the watchwords of this venerable institution. The school motto is "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom". Although the school has declined in recent years, it has had many successful alumni in the past, such as Bangalore millionaire Venkatraman Movva,musician Sandeep Chowta, playwright Mahesh Dattani.
The students of the school are divided into six houses they are:

- Oldham House
- Buttrick House
- Toussaint House
- Pfeiffer House
- Weston House
The school provides all around development of its students with many extracurricular activities and sports.The school was also one of the first to provide swimming facility in bangalore in the year 1940. It is traditionally strong in soccer and hosts the most prestigious inter-school tournament of the year for the exclusive schools of old Bangalore, the Baldwin Shield.
Special Note: John Baldwin was also the founder of the Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio and Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas.
