Bakot is one of the 57 Union Councils that form the Abbottabad District of the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan. It shares a border with the Muzaffarabad and Bagh districts of Kashmir.

Bakot was badly affected by the 2005 Pakistan earthquake, as the epicentre was in nearby Kashmir.
