Bakke, Norway

Bakke is a former municipality in Vest-Agder county, Norway.
It was created in 1837 as Bakke formannskapsdistrikt. According to the 1835 census the municipality had a population of 2,378. In 1849 the district Sirdal was separated from Bakke to become a municipality of its own, and on 31 December 1893 the same thing happened to Gyland. After the last split Bakke had a population of 1,368.
On 1 January 1960 the district Øksendal with 226 inhabitants was reunited with Sirdal, and on 1 January 1965 the rest of Bakke was incorporated into Flekkefjord. Prior to the merger Bakke had a population of 925.
