Bakary Soro (born December 5, 1985 in Abidjan) is an Ivory Coast born football defender who plays for Belgian club Germinal Beerschot on loan from English Premiership club Charlton Athletic.
Like many other successful Ivorian footballers, he began his career at homeland club ASEC Abidjan, coming through their famed youth academy.
He was called up to the Ivorian National Team for the 2008 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Gabon on the 5th October 2006, along with fellow ASEC player Didier Ya Konan. The team won 5-0 and Soro was an unused substitute.
In November 2006 it was reported that he and fellow ASEC team mate Ya Konan had been granted trials with Premiership club Charlton Athletic.
In January 2007, he signed a loan deal with Belgium Jupiler League Club Germinal Beerschot. His registration, however, has been held by Charlton, who are expected to sign the defender once he qualifies for an EU passport.
