Bahr Negus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bahr Negus was the 44th Eritrean king that ruled all of north of the Mareb River (modern day Eritrea). Much of history was destroyed when Ethiopia annexed Eritrea in 1961, sparking a 30 year war.
King Bahr Negus, which means King of the Sea, frequently attacked the Abyssinian kingdoms south of the Mereb River (modern day Tigray and Amhara provinces of Ethiopia), which had been fighting since the fall of Axumite empire. When the oatomon empire invaded Eritrea, King Bahr Negus often allied with them to further keep the Abyssinia at bay, which often wanted to expand their kingdom north of the Mereb river.
