Baghdad City Hall was designed as a winning competition entry by Hisham N. Ashkouri working with Hisham A. Munir and Associates. Though awarded in 1972, the building was completed in 1981 for the Government of Iraq as municipal offices.
No severe damage was sustained on this building in the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
