Baganuur

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Baganur (Mongolian: Багануур) is one of nine Düüregs (districts) of the Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator. It is subdivided into 4 Khoroos (subdistricts).

Baganuur is actually a separate city, located as an exclave of 620 km2 at the border between the Töv and Khentii Aimags. It was created as a soviet military base. The civilian city is one of the largest industrial production locations in Mongolia, and would rank within the ten largest cities. There are efforts under way to separate its administration from the capital to make it an independent city.

[edit] Transportation

Baganuur is an important stop on the Trans-Mongolian Railway.
