Bad Dog

Bad Dog is a short-lived animated cartoon that aired on ABC and Teletoon during 1998. The cartoon focuses on the Potanski family and their dog Berkeley. The show's gimmick was that whenever Berkeley was told that he was a bad dog, he would freeze and pretend to be dead until someone told him he was a good dog. This would happen every episode.
Bad dog received extremely poor ratings and was cancelled after a single season. TV.com does not have a complete entry for it and even search engines provide little to no information. This leads to the conclusion that the viewership was so small that the series has faded almost entirely into obscurity.
It is unknown whether or not the show was inspired by the popular After Dark screensaver Bad Dog. The two dogs have a similar appearance, and the Bad Dog on the show is name Berkeley, perhaps a reference to Berkeley Systems, the creators of After Dark.

"Bad Dog" is the name of a Beavis and Butt-Head episode, in which the dimwitted duo go to a pet adoption center and pick out a particularly unpleasant dog as a pet. As Butt-head is being quizzed on how to take care of the dog, Beavis is being dragged around in the background, and "bit in the nads". What was particularly entertaining about the episode was their search in the dog pound for just the right dog. Walking past each eage, Butthead would say "wuss" if the dog in the cage did not look or act ferocious enough. Possible candidates are afforded the "bite test" wherein Beavis would put his hand into the animal's cage and the dog that bites him "wins" and is adopted.
