Bacolod City Domestic Airport (IATA: BCD, ICAO: RPVB), also known as Bacolod Airport, is the airport serving the general area of Bacolod City, the capital of Negros Occidental in the Philippines. It is one of the busiest airports in the Western Visayas region and is one of four trunkline airports, or major commercial domestic airports, in the region, the others being Mandurriao Airport in Iloilo City, Roxas Airport in Roxas City and Puerto Princesa Airport in Puerto Princesa. This airport will be replaced by the new Silay City International Airport, located in nearby Silay City.
It is classified as such by the Air Transportation Office, a body of the Department of Transportation and Communications that is responsible for the operations of not only this airport but also of all other airports in the Philippines except the major international airports.
As of February 2007, Cebu Pacific increased its number of flights from Manila to Bacolod City. Bacolod City surpassed the troubled Iloilo City airport in the number of passengers arriving. The airport in Iloilo City is expected to close by March 2007 and Bacolod City Airport would likely accommodate the passengers to Iloilo City. There is no definite timeline yet on the opening of the new Iloilo Airport located outside the city.
