Back Door Man

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Back Door Man" is a song written by Willie Dixon and originally performed by Howlin' Wolf (released on Chess Records 1777, 1961). The Doors later covered the song on their 1967 self-titled album. The song has also been covered by the Grateful Dead, Shadows of Knight and Bob Weir.

The phrase "Back door man" refers to a man having an affair with a married woman, who presumably comes and goes through the back door of her house. It has also been speculated that the title may be an allusion to the practice of anal sex.
