B2\cafelog

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The correct title of this article is b2\cafelog. The initial letter is shown capitalized due to technical restrictions.

b2\cafelog, more commonly known as simply b2 or cafelog, is the precursor to the popular WordPress content management system (CMS). b2\cafelog is estimated to have been employed on approximately two-thousand (2000) weblogs as of May 23, 2003. It is written in PHP and backed by MySQL, and is shipped with a standards-compliant CSS-based design.

The lead developer of b2\cafelog, Michel Valdrighi has since moved on to be a contributing developer to WordPress.

The b2 project was effectively abandoned at version 0.6 in favour of the more modern and up-to-date WordPress. Development has remained stagnant for over a year now (as of January 2006).

A second content management system based on b2 (version 0.6.1), b2evolution, is in active development however.
