Azhagiya Tamil Magan (2007) (English:Handsome Tamil Son) is a forthcoming high budget Tamil film directed by Bharathan. Bharathan who worked with Vijay in Ghilli as an Assistant Director and dialogue writer will be directing the movie. This movie is creating great expectations as Vijay and AR Rahman are joining hands and it's Vijay's 45th movie. Vijay dons a double role for the movie.[[1]] Shooting for the film has started from January 24 2007 and the movie is expected to be an August release. This will be the first movie with Vijay and Shriya. Namitha and Santhanam also play roles in the film.

Vijay Will Play The Role Of a Man Who is able to see the future. Vijay, has said specifically to indiaglitz.com that this movie will be a thriller,giving him plenty of scope to perform as a actor. This movie is not a remake of abishek bachans bluffmaster.

The combination of Vijay-Trisha-Dharani- Vidyasagar is getting together once again to rock Tamil Nadu. The coming together of an established successful combination has evoked a lot of expectations in the industry.
Vijay has given the 'go ahead' signal to Dharani's script and Vidyasagar is busy getting his melodious tunes ready. The crew is toying with the idea of commencing the film at a stage when Azhagiya Tamil Magan would be nearing its completion. Depending on Vijay's decision, the details about shooting would be announced soon. One more interesting and powerful trivia about this film is that it is slated to be produced by Udayanidi, son of M K Stalin and Grandson of Chief Minister Karunanidi who is an ardent film buff and a qualified media person.
Vijay is also acting in a movie with the direction of Gautham Menon. The title has not come out yet though.

- This film is set to release on August, 2007.
- Usually all singing in Kollywood films is done by playback singers. Vijay who sings usually sings in his movies is doing one song in his own voice, for a rap song tuned by A.R.Rahman.
- This film is the first time Shriya is paired with Vijay.
- This is Bharathan's first film as director has he had worked as Dialogue writer for Vijay's previous blockbuster Ghilli.
- This film is expected to ease out Vijay from his Action Hero tag and has much Acting Scope too.

The movie was officially launched on January 24th 2007 at AVM studios, Chennai. The launch was attended by a host of celebrities including the protagonist (Vijay)'s wife Mrs. Sangeetha Vijay, heroines Shriya and Namitha, Vijay's father SA Chandrasekar, Directors Perarasu, Dharani, Ramana and actor Jayam Ravi, Sreeman and many others. The movie was launched with a small lamp lighting ceremony where the celebrities present lit a lamp to start the proceedings off auspiciously.[2]
Producer Appachan has announced that the movie will be released on August 15, 2007. The film's shooting started in February 2007 and will end in July.
