Aydın Doğan

Aydın Doğan, born 1936 in Kelkit, a town in the province of Gümüşhane, is a billionaire Turkish businessman and a media mogul.

He attended the Academy of Economics and Commerce in Istanbul (later became Marmara University) from 1956 to 1960, and afterwards developed the Dogan Group, which holds more than 50 affiliates. His company owns the biggest oil/gas company in Turkey, Petrol Ofisi. Add to that, Dogan Holding has a great power on Turkish media. In the media sector, Aydin Dogan owns Kanal D (Channel D also known as Euro D), Star TV (which company spent 306 million dollars to buy) and newspapers such as Hürriyet and Milliyet.
