Avesthagen

Located in Bangalore, India, Avesthagen (Avestha Gengraine Technologies) is a biotechnology and bioinformatics company focusing on food, pharmaceuticals, and nutraceuticals. Avesthagen was founded in 1998 and currently employs 215 people who focus on research with universities and pharmaceutical companies around the globe. This company has developed natural ingredients derived from plants, that are traditionally used in Indian medicine, and have been proven to be beneficial for conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome.
The company has successfully secured its first international patents and its subsidiary Avesthagen Quality Agriculture Services ("AQUAS") was an early leader in GMO testing in India.
Avesthagen opened a European office in Cambridge in 2004, securing deals that are said to have generated 35% of recent revenue.[1]
Dr Villoo Morawala Patell is the founder and CEO of the company.
