Avdimou

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a small Turkish village on the south coast of Cyprus. In 1974 the Turkish invasion displaced the predominantly Turkish residents who were evacuated to the North. Greek Cypriot refugees from the North replaced the Turkish residents. The main source of income for the villagers was derived from the many vineyards in the area, however this has recently changed with younger generations seeking white collar employment in the nearby city of Limassol.

The main restaurant in the village is the famous Famagusta Taverna run by local residents Maroulla and Yiorkis who cater for the locals, tourists and also members of the British Armed Forces who are based at the Akrotiri army base.
