While Googling around for information on AVCATT I found the following resources (these contain a lot more information about AVCATT which could/should be incorporated into the article):

  • InterSense Military Case Studies (referenced in the article): contains information about products (hardware) used such as the InterSense IS-900 Head Trackers (see InterSense IS-900 Precision Motion Tracker).
  • National Defense Magazine article (also referenced in the article): contains information about the budget, contractors such as Link, other background information, what AVCATT will be used for and where it is deployed, and _a lot_ of other information.
  • Training & Simulation Journal: another article in which the budget is mentioned ($213.3 million in contrary to $300 million in the NDM article, though that said "invested"), also includes information about the Apache Longbow configuration.
  • MS&T Magazine article: contains lots of detailed information such as who is responsible for AVCATT (PM ACTT), also contains a couple of paragraphs about the role which "Gaming technology" is playing in creating these systems, the focus of the article is on interoperability between different deployed systems.
  • NASA Scientific and Technical Information: information about virtual reality systems created by InterSense, contains a paragraph about AVCATT specifically.

Oh and if the article is expanded (with a few paragraphs of useful information or so) the following picture should most definitely be included since IMHO it perfectly displays what AVCATT is and its mobility . (WARNING: 1.5MB, 300DPI image). --Bruce 21:42, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The factual accuracy of this article

A while ago I contacted L3 concerning the addition of the image mentioned above to the article, I received a friendly response in which they allowed the use under the normal promotional material clause. They also pointed out several factual discrepancies in the article itself. I haven't yet taken the time to improve the article considerably since (though I might in the future), I'm leaving the actual response I received here for others that wish to improve the article. --Bruce 22:56, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

The information on Wikipedia as it regards AVCATT is considerably dated.
Please note:

- I have attached a press release issued by L-3 Link Simulation and
Training on 1/29/07 as it regards the program's latest milestone, the
award to L-3 Link to build AVCATT suites 16 through 20.  The Army has
plans to acquire a total of 23 AVCATT systems.
- Silicon Graphics is no longer the image generator supplier and, as a
result, reference number one should be deleted. 
- The AVCATT MPEG video is out-of-date and should be replaced by the
AVCATT video you can link to at: http://www.link.com/avcatt_videos.html 

You have approval from L-3 Link to use the noted image to expand this
Wikipedia listing.  Please note the photo attribution should read: "This
is a copyrighted image that has been released by L-3 Link Simulation and
Training to promote their work or product in the media, such as
advertising material or a promotional photo in a press kit."
