Automattic Inc. is a small web development corporation founded in August 2005.
It is most notable for WordPress (free blogware) and WordPress.com (a free blogging service). Other projects include:
- bbPress - Forum Software
- Akismet - An anti-comment spam system capable of integration with many blogging platforms and forums.
- WordPress MU - A multi-blog community system built on WordPress
Automattic's employees include Matthew Mullenweg and Ryan Boren, the primary developers of WordPress.
On January 11 2006, it was announced that Toni Schneider, a senior Yahoo! executive, would be leaving the company to become CEO of Automattic. [1] [2]
