[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!

Dear Aussie King Pin: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD!

Also, thank you for adding new articles on cycling and Australian politics:

Note that your Alessandro Ballan article has subsequently been tagged as needing sources. See these two articles for more info on what this is all about:

The same comments probably apply to your other articles as well even though they've not been tagged yet. It should be pretty simple to address this for each article.

Source tags aside, Wikipedia always needs additional substantive material like that which you've added and we very much appreciate your work so far. I hope you'll keep adding good stuff to Wikipedia.--A. B. 05:02, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Australian Politics Contributions

I just wanted to say that I appericate your contributions regarding Australian Politics, notably articles on Federal elections in 1903 and 1906 and also on some districts and regions in the Victorian parliament. I have found I have had to tidy up some expression and make some corrections here and there but please don't let that discourage you, keep at it and don't take it personally if I need to reword something of yours I see. You'll get there! Teiresias84 10:15, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Morocco

Hi AKP. I've just seen your comment on the map. For clarity and vote counting, could you please tell me if you formally endorse the striped map version? Cheers. -- Szvest 10:58, 6 September 2006 (UTC) Wiki me up ®

[edit] Re: Morocco talk

Huh It seems odd of you to tell me to "stop biting Yasser so hard for trying to put his opinion into the discussion" and then to request that I "make sure the discussion stays on topic about the map because this is not a debate about the nations [sic] indepence [sic]." Seems self-contradictory to me. Yasser has nothing to add to the discussion (thus far), as he hasn't actually said anything about the article. I also didn't accuse him of being a sock puppet, but I mentioned the possibility since he's only editing to push a POV, just like Jalil. I put all of that information on my userpage not to be mocked for it, but to be intellectually honest in my editing. -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 00:21, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Koavf I was not trying to mack you I was trying to prove that you have your own POV. Yes, I have applied different standards to you and Yasser because he is a newcomer and you are a experenced editior. I want you to keep discussion on track by remining people like Yasser and Jalil about Wikipedia protocol, something which by lack of memory of every rule stops me from doing. Remember if discussion does leave the topic you don't have to respond. Aussie King Pin 00:43, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Electoral district of Altona

I like what you've done by adding some results tables. Do you think though it'll look a little better if we added party colours and a two party preferred for the 2002 result? A scaled down version of this table prehaps? In any case I'll leave it up to you. Teiresias84 00:51, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

That's cool I might have a play around on the weekend and make a template myself, then we can both add them to the relevant pages. Teiresias84 01:25, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Morocco mediation

A request for mediation has been filed with the Mediation Committee that lists you as a party. The Mediation Committee requires that all parties listed in a mediation must be notified of the mediation. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Morocco, and indicate whether you agree or refuse to mediate. If you are unfamiliar with mediation, please refer to Wikipedia:Mediation. There are only seven days for everyone to agree, so please check as soon as possible.

I have no interest in participating in this mediation, however I don't think that should stop it from going forward. You can feel free to remove my name from the parties list; if anyone else feels my participation is actually necessary for successful mediation, they can replace it, although in that case the mediation will probably fail. Christopher Parham (talk) 15:32, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi Aussie, and Thanks for the reminder. I have accepted. Cheers --A Jalil 22:15, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: New Colours For Political Parties

Hi King Pin! You might like to take at look at the templates at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Australian_politics#Templates, which seem to be more widely used than the ones I made. It does mean using slightly different templates to the (British) ones I used for the Marrickville page, but it seems to be how most of the Australian election articles are being done. JPD (talk) 13:21, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Well, they have been used in Electoral district of Little Para, for example, but I have just made {{Election box candidate AU party}} to use them in the style at Marrickville by-election, 2005. You can look there to see how it works - it shoudl work for any of the parties listed at the WikiProject. JPD (talk) 10:39, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bulgaria

Tell me, why is Bulgaria not a Historical Power in the Middle Ages and Britain is??? In what way britain, for instance exceeds Bulgaria during the Middle Ages????????? It may be much more famous but this definetely does NOT mean that it has greater achievements. Our lands were devastated, depopulated and in some places ruined by the Turks and today almost nothing survived but this DOES NOT MEAN that our Empire was miserable or insignificant before the arrival of the Turks. Of course, you have not heard this, but thanks to the resistence of the Bulgarian people the Turks did not devastate your so praized Western Europe. We paid with our freedom and glory the for the development of the Renaissance in Europe.

I will be pleased to receive your answer and then compare it with Bulgarian achievements. I want the article for Bulgaria to be restored.--Gligan 13:11, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Morocco Mediation

Given that no one has replied to the mediation within the last 17 days, I am closing it as being stale. From a cursory glance, it appears to me that mediation is no longer needed. However, if this is not the case, then you are more than welcome to file a new case. Thanks. On behalf of the Mediation Committee, ^demon[omg plz] 16:21, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Regional power

You wrote a while back:

I have the opionon that Saudi Arabia is the main regional power in the Middle East not Iran and I will go and chase sources to back this up.

There's been a bit of discussion (and a minor revert war) on the Middle East with a user changing the section so Iran (instead of Turkey or Saudi Arabia) is the power. It's been defused since I changed the wording to include Saudi Arabia, which had been dropped from the article for a while, and to state that there's no clear regional power.

If you've found anything about which state would be considered the regional power, especially if it's citable here, we could use it in the article. We could use your expertise on that article—I was able to cite the COW project to defend my position, but I'm not that well-versed in power in international relations.
