  • Oppose. While the name may be more inclusive, it is not used within Australia, instead the government prefers to make use of the longer "Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander" label for both these (culturally separate) groups. Australian Aboriginal is the only common term for the native inhabitants ever used in Australia, and I've never heard/seen the phrase "Indigenous Australians" being commonly used for the aboriginals in my life. +Hexagon1 (t) 12:49, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Support This has been agonised over before. It was accepted as the most acceptable and least patronising title. Its not perfect-but otherwise wikipedia will be schizophrenic.Lentisco 03:52, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

  • please have a look at Zarbat's [1] before engaging in this. possible single issue trouble-maker?
  • also hexagon's "I've never heard/seen the phrase "Indigenous Australians" being commonly used for the aboriginals in my life" would seem to indicate a complete lack of knowledge of this issue. this is not an exageration. the "only common term claim" is simply false. anyone unfamiliar with subject, please proceed w/ caution → bsnowball 09:00, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
  • It's said above in the survey that this has been agonised over before which I'd expect, it's been a hot topic in Australia for several decades. But where exactly is the previous discussion in Wikipedia? Andrewa 19:11, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
