• 1823 - Richmond Bridge was opened, it is the oldest bridge in Australia still in use.
• 1958 - The ICI Building opens in Melbourne, the tallest building in Australia at the time.
• 1990 - John Fairfax Holdings is placed into receivership.
• 1990 - Christine Woolgar and Noel Hayman graduated from the University of Queensland, to become the state's first Aboriginal doctors.
• 1993 - Dean Brown and the Liberal Party win the South Australian elections, winning government from Lynn Arnold and the ALP.
• 2005 - Cronulla riots take place.
