The Australian Design Awards are dedicated to promoting excellence in design and innovation in Australia. The Australian Design Awards are dedicated to:

  • Recognising and rewarding excellence in Australian design and innovation.
  • Improving the awareness and promoting the benefits of professional design to industry and the general public.
  • Demonstrating the importance of design in the link between invention and the commercial success of products.
  • Fostering a culture of design and innovation in Australia.
  • Raising the profile and significance of professional design in Australia in the development of globally competitive products.

There are three types of Accolades issued by the Australian Design Awards, they are:

  • Australian Design Mark
  • Australian Design Award
  • Australian Design Awards of the Year

Establish in 1958 by the Industrial Design Council of Australia (IDCA). In 1991 the Australian Design Awards became a division of Standards Australia.

Previous Winners include: the Victa Lawn Mower, the fist Holden Ute, the Bionic Ear, the Winged Keel, the VentrAssist Artificial Heart, the Sunbeam Mixmaster, the Test Series Cricket Helmet, the Dolphin Torch and the Enzie Stair.
