Australian American War Memorial

The Australian American War Memorial is a large memorial in the suburb of Russell in Canberra, Australia. It is 78 metres high, made from aluminium and is visible from much of central Canberra. An eagle sits at the top of the tall pole.
Text on a plaque on the memorial reads:
- IN GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE
- OF THE VITAL HELP GIVEN BY THE
- UNITED STATES OF AMERICA DURING
- THE WAR IN THE PACIFIC 1941-45
- UNVEILED BY
- HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II
- FEBRUARY 16th 1954
It is known locally as Bugs Bunny.
