[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:200%Fresh.jpg)

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:200%Fresh.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sue Anne 04:47, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding edits made during September 4, 2006 (UTC) to South Africa

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits are considered vandalism, and if you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the work of others. Thank you. Ryūlóng 10:43, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Please do not remove legitimate warnings from your talk page or replace them with inappropriate content. Removing or maliciously altering warnings from your talk page will not remove them from the page history. You're welcome to archive your talk page, but be sure to provide a link to any deleted legitimate comments. If you continue to remove or vandalize legitimate warnings from your talk page, you will lose your privilege of editing your talk page. Thanks. Ryūlóng 10:51, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | unblock | contribs) asked to be unblocked, but an administrator or other user has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators or users can also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). This unblock request continues to be visible. Do not replace this message with another unblock request nor add another unblock request.

Request reason: ""

Decline reason: "explaination below --WinHunter (talk) 13:35, 4 September 2006 (UTC)"

This template should be removed when the block has expired, or after 2 days in the case of blocks of 1 week or longer.

Could somebody please realise that I wasn't vandalizing?

You moved 2 long standing articles without any justification. And you blanked the South Africa article. You've blanked in the past. It's considered vandalism. Btw, I removed your email address from your userpage per WP:CHILD. --Woohookitty(meow) 10:58, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Um... what did I remove again? I was trying to move South Africa to it's proper name Republic of South Africa. And I don't think I have blanked in the past?? I think I only 'blanked' (=moved) one article. And I moved one article. Please unblock or when does it expire?Auroranorth 11:03, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

You blanked South Africa and moved United Kingdom about Wikipedia. The proper names for such nations are usually not used; just the simplest name, such as United States or Mexico or other such nations. Because you have performed such moves in the past, you have been blocked for the next 48 hours. Ryūlóng 11:05, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] An automated message from Werdnabot

Hi there, I tried to archive your user talk page, but it seems that you have an error in your Werdnabot directive that prevented me from correctly archiving your User talk page. Please review this error, or contact Werdna648 for assistance. Werdnabot (DNBF)/T\C 01:55, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Administrator

I know you didn't mean to say you were an administrator of the whole of wikipedia. The problem is that the term "administrator" is a more or less protected title on wikipedia, to prevent confusion. What do you think of the title of Chief Executive Officer of the WikiProject? ;) Aecis Appleknocker Flophouse 10:21, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

I'm still not too thrilled with the title. The problem is that the term administrator has a very distinctive meaning on wikipedia. It refers to someone with sysop "powers" (aka "a mop and and a bucket" ;), which is what someone coordinating a wikiproject doesn't (automatically) have. Aecis Appleknocker Flophouse 19:47, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cross-namespace redirects

I noticed you created several cross-namespace redirects to your new WikiProject. Please do not do this - the main namespace is intended for content articles only, and cross-namespace redirects are harmful to the project. Thanks, Tangotango 10:44, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

A cross-namespace redirect is a redirect that originates in a different namespace from its destination. Please see WP:RFD#When_should_we_delete_a_redirect.3F for more information about this. - Tangotango 10:53, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I deleted the cross-namespace redirects you created. - Tangotango 11:03, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
Please don't create "click here" links, either. Wikipedia maintains a strict distinction between namespaces, mainly because the content is copied extensively to other websites verbatim. WikiProjects and their redirects should remain in project (Wikipedia:) and project talk (Wikipedia talk:) space. Thanks, Tangotango 11:10, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
You can't. You should always refer to the project page as Wikipedia:WikiProject Redirect, or use the shorter WP: redirects you created. Cheers, Tangotango 11:32, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
No problem. Yes, I'm an administrator. - Tangotango 11:34, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Talk page reply!!

How do I publicly announce good service bestowed unto me by another Wikipedian? If there is no compliment page already, may I please create it? Auroranorth 11:38, 15 September 2006 (UTC) Please reply on my talk page - here

This is generally done by adding a Barnstar to that person's user or talk page. I don't know of any central location for this kind of thing, though the idea seems vaguely familiar. You might want to bring it up at Wikipedia:Kindness Campaign. --Cherry blossom tree 11:58, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to Esperanza!

Welcome, Auroranorth, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

James E. Zavaleta T C E 12:01, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks!

Auroranorth, thank you for your barnstar! :) It's always nice to receive one, and I hope I have helped you with your Wikipedia experience. Once again, many thanks! Tangotango 12:44, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Thank you very much. Michael 19:35, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RickK

You left a note for RickK, who is not active anymore. Let me know what the IP is, and I will alter the block. NoSeptember 08:38, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Why are you creating pages we do not want (like the WoW category page) and other essentially blank talk pages? Stop adding nonsense, you're being reverted, and will likely be blocked if you continue. NoSeptember 08:52, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Editing other peoples user pages.

Please do not edit the user pages of other contributors without their approval or consent, as you did with User:Jed12 It may be seen as vandalism. If you wish to welcome people please only welcome them on their talk page DARReNTALK 08:54, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

don't worry about it, i've made the same mistake in the past but in future please edit only their talk pages. DARReNTALK 08:57, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

hello, just a word of advice. When welcoming people you can use the {{welcome}} tag. DARReNTALK 09:03, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

If you like welcoming people, try adding {{subst:welcome}} ~~~~ to their talk page, it will provide them with a bunch of useful links. Or pick another from Wikipedia:Welcome templates. NoSeptember 09:05, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please use edit summaries

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. - Glen 09:24, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. My comment was due to your creation of the on Wheels! pages - which af course immediately made you look like the vandal! in fact I initially started mass reverting your edits for this reason. The summaries save confusion, thanks again - Glen 08:01, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Removing CanadianCaesar from Adminlist

It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed content from Wikipedia:List of administrators. Please be careful not to remove content from Wikipedia without a valid reason, which you should specify in the edit summary or on the article's talk page. Thank you. --Quiddity 19:32, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

BTW, once on that list a name never disappears. It may be moved to the Semi-active list or the Inactive list, or even to the Former list (but to the Former list only when removed from this system generated list). If CC doesn't come back in another week, we can move him to Inactive. NoSeptember 19:58, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP:WHMT

Hello. You may or may not remember this, but some time ago you signed up for a Hangman Tournament hosted here on Wikipedia. The next tournament is about to start, and I was just wondering if you were still interested in participating. If you are, please go to the page (linked above) and bold your name in the sign-up list. This will confirm your registration. If you are not interested any more, please feel free to remove your name from the list. If you haven't responded within 7 days, I will assume you are not interested, and remove you from the list.

Once you confirm your registration on the sign-up list, your waiting list spot will be confirmed. The first player on the waiting list who has confirmed their registration will be the first one to fill in any remaining spots that we may have.

If you think anyone else may be interested in this tournament, please drop them a note and ask them to sign up. Good luck, and I hope to see you at the tournament! If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka Talk to me! 13:52, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

I am giving all registered participants 7 days (from 13:00 UTC 17 September) to bold their name and confirm registration. A lot of participants will drop out, and I predict most (if not all of the waiting list) will be promoted to be in the tournament. If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. [edit] September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
  3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
  4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!
  5. TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!

[edit] Wikipedia:Protecting children's privacy

Hi. You contributed to the discussion at Wikipedia:Protecting children's privacy. If you have time and interest, I'm asking for contributors to make a brief statement summarizing your thoughts about it here, thanks. Herostratus 19:56, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

  • You have just pointed out an excellent reason for why it is not a good idea to base Wikipedia guidelines on real-world law (moreso since most people aren't lawyers and have a tendency of misinterpreting law). The privacy issue has tempers flaring on all sides and debate going in circles, but as written I do not at all think it is a good idea. >Radiant< 09:14, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RfA thanks

Hey Auroranorth. Thank you for participating in my recent RfA. It passed with an amazing final tally of 160/4/1 and I was thrilled to see so many from the Australian community participating.. Like many administrators and editors, I have not written a feature article, however I have contributed a lot of content to many articles and I very strongly dispute your claim that I have not contributed any quality content to the encyclopedia. I'm really not sure how you reached that conclusion since some of the articles I wrote entirely by myself were linked to in the RfA. But I appreciate you taking the time to consider my candidacy and if I can do anything to help you in the future, please let me know. Cheers, Sarah Ewart (Talk) 20:22, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks Auroranorth for your kind wishes and for letting me know that it was just a misunderstanding. I appreciate you taking the time. And it's nice to have met another Australian. Cheers, Sarah Ewart (Talk) 08:49, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Taichung City

I am new on WikiProject Cities. I have added considerable content to the first city I am working on, which happens to be the city of my residence, Taichung City. Would you mind taking a few minutes to look it over and leave comments on how you think I can make it better to bring it up to WikiProject Cities standards in a section of the discussion page for the city’s article page that I have set up.

Thank you. Ludahai 03:51, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP WHMT

It will begin shortly, as soon as I fix my computer at home. Currently, my Internet access is not working, so I have had to resort to using public computers, which I can't use that often to begin with.
My goal is to start this weekend, but circumstances may prevent me from doing that. Sorry. If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka 13:02, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP:WHMT

Hello, Auroranorth/Archives/Archive 00. You may or may not remember signing up for the Wikipedia Hangman Tournament, but the time has finally arrived for you to start your game! You have until 07:30, 33 March 2007 (UTC) to begin your game by typing {{Wikipedia:WikiHangman Tournament/New|~~~~}} on the corresponding round page. You should also visit your match page, as you will be able to see various aspects of your match.

I would also suggest:

  • Familiarizing yourself with the rules of the tournament. The rules include how to win, how to play, and how to navigate amongst the various pages of the tournament.
  • Visiting the Tournament 2 page, which has the rules and pairing for the tournament. Use the tournament tree to see tournament updates, as well as
  • Placing Wikipedia:WikiHangman Tournament/Tournament 2/Match 1/Round 1/A, Wikipedia:WikiHangman Tournament/Tournament 2/Match 1/Round 1/B, and Wikipedia:WikiHangman Tournament/Tournament 2/Match 1 on your Special:Watchlist, as each of these will be updated with or without notice. As the match progresses, add subsequent pages to your watchlist.

If you have any questions at all regarding the procedures and rules of this tournament, please feel free to contact me at my talk page. Thanks again, and good luck!

In case you are wondering why it took so long to begin this tournament, my computer was not operating correctly, and my Internet usage was limited to public computers. My opportunities to use public computers were limited, so needless to say, I didn't have a lot of time to commit to Wikipedia. So, sorry if this has caused you any inconvience. Good luck! If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka 02:24, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
The last AC meeting (full log)
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

[edit] Daylight saving etc

Hey there

While I value your opinion about daylight saving, and you have every right to express it (and I understand that opinions on the issue are pretty much 50/50), please don't just make silly edits to articles in some sort of attempt to express your disdain at today's decision. It just wastes everyone's time. There are plenty of other places appropriate to discuss your thoughs.

Thanks. -Jasonb 11:32, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Please stop messing with user and user talk pages, such as User talk:Birky21. NoSeptember 12:20, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Blocked

For abusive vandalism. Hesperian 05:32, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

(The above post was made without action. What vandalism, anyway?) Auroranorth 08:53, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Blocked again; still vandalising. Hesperian 11:48, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Hesperian, what on earth are you talking about? At least give a reason. And 'still vandalizing'? If anything, a lie. Auroranorth 04:03, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Here's an example of the initial vandalism for which you were blocked: [1]
Here's an example of your contributions since the block expired: [2]
I have better things to do than quote diffs at vandals who make pointless denials. Hesperian 04:07, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
Another email sent over one-week unwarranted block. Auroranorth 04:10, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
The 48 hour block was made over both vandalism quote one and two. I think Hesperian just enjoys blocking people over the same incidents of which they had already been blocked for. Auroranorth 04:14, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unblock request

See argument above.

Request reason: "Please see argument with Hesperian above. Abuse of blocking power, as the extension was not warranted, and 'still vandalising' was not possible, as I could not edit during the 48 hours that I was initially blocked for. -- Auroranorth 04:18, 26 November 2006 (UTC)"

Decline reason: "It would have been abuse if this was your first block for vandalism, but it isn't. Blocks are extended until you get the message that vandalism no matter how subtle is not tolerated or until are indefinitely blocked. --  Netsnipe  ►  06:02, 26 November 2006 (UTC)"

This template should be removed when the block has expired, or after 2 days in the case of blocks of 1 week or longer.

[edit] Clarification

I'm surprised that I'm receiving email protests over such a straightforward case. These protests simply have no basis in fact. Look, I'll lay it all out for you:

Date and time (+0800 GMT) Summary
21 November 2006 Auroranorth repeatedly flames Daylight saving time, in an apparent protest against the pending introduction of a three-year trial of daylight savings in his home state of Western Australia.[3][4][5] Auroranorth repeatedly vandalises User talk:Birky21.[6][7][8][9][10]
23 November 2006, 13:31 Hesperian blocks Auroranorth for 48 hours with edit summary "vandalism".[11]
25 November 2006, 13:31 Auroranorth's block expires
25 November 2006, 16:59 Auroranorth flames the daylight saving page again.[12]
25 November 2006, 19:46 Hesperian blocks Auroranorth for one week with edit summary "still vandalising".[13]

Now please stop wasting my time. Hesperian 11:36, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

OK. Thanks - my first 48hr block seemed to have no effect. Great summary, and I thought my block had no effect on my editing powers. Auroranorth 13:55, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] What to do?

Hi,

I just know how do redirect this page...

Evlija Celebija correctly redirects to Eyliya Çelebi

but Evlija Celebija's Sejahatname does not redirect to anything (maybe Seyahatname would be nice) and has incorrect information.

Thanks in advance

[edit] Deletion Debates

Please do not remove deletion notices from articles as you did with WP:ABOUTEVERYTHING and WT:Beatles. The notices are needed to establish community consensus about the status of an article. If you support or oppose the deletion of an article, you may comment at the respective page instead. When the deletion debate is closed, the closer will remove the tag or delete the article as appropriate based upon community consensus.

You should also never remove the contents of an article in an attempt to "delete" it as you here. That is not deleting an article. Only an admin can delete an article.

Please let me know if you have any question. Thanks. -- JLaTondre 22:51, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

There is no such thing as "historical" articles. Doing what you did with WP:ABOUTEVERYTHING is not acceptable. If you want something deleted, you need to follow the deletion process. If you believe a page should be replaced with something else, feel free to edit it, but don't blank or otherwise replace a page with no real content. In the case of WP:ABOUTEVERYTHING, it was not a case of "obviously should be removed" as the community disagreed and the deletion debate was closed with a keep. -- JLaTondre 13:59, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
The article was tagged with {{rfd}}. -- JLaTondre 13:31, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dragons of Winter Night GA

Could you be a bit more elaborate? Two sentences doesn't help me fix an article. What is the problem with headings, here? I see nothing wrong with that. As for "jumbo blocks of text", to what is this referring to? The plot summary is as sparse as possible, really; cutting out more would be very hard. I urge you to give better reviews when reviewing articles for GAs. DoomsDay349 22:56, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
