[edit] The Band
AURKO (Sanskrit for the first rays of the sun) is a Hindi rock band from India, classifying its genre as Desi-rock with a dash of Indian folk – the seven member band is well known for ‘high voltage’ live shows (over 200 concerts) - performing their own compositions with a generous mix of foot tapping non-stop medleys.

Supratik – Lead vocals, lyrics
Souvik – Lead vocals, lyrics
Saumya – Rhythm Ensemble, Backing vocals, lyrics
Jeet – Guitars, Backing Vocals
Yathi – Drums
Dev – Bass
Rrituraj – Keys, Backing vocals
[edit] The Initial Years
In 2000 Supratik, an advertising pro and the lead voice, encouraged by the response to his gigs got a brainwave of forming a band. An entrepreneur at heart, he took no time in hatching this concept – Aurko exploded on the music-scape on 14th August, 2000. Souvik, a techie and the second lead vocals, was the other cast in the act. Soon Saumya, an ex-IITian and a rhythm freak, and Jeet, a student and a guitar nerd, joined forces. In the later years, the band was enhanced with the arrival of Yathi, a techie and a drum maniac, Dev, another techie and a devoted bassist and Rritu, a marketing pro and a deft keyboardist making Aurko a unique ensemble of corporate citizens who had taken their interest in music beyond the realms of the ordinary.
[edit] ‘Nadiyaa’ – The Debut Album
Aurko’s tryst with Times music during a performance at Planet M in year 2002 culminated with the label signing Aurko as their exclusive artist in 2005 and the release of their maiden album, ‘Nadiyaa’ in April 2006. The title track ‘Nadiyaa’ has enjoyed immense popularity among the masses. The crowning glory has been its featuring in MTV's WorldChart Express(Top 10) for two weeks and being a chart topper on major FM channels in Kolkata.
[edit] The Music Videos
Nadiyaa - Aurko has worked with Illusion Films, Mumbai to produce, in their words, ‘high on energy and drunk on life’ video of ‘Nadiyaa’ (title track of the album ‘Nadiyaa’). The video has been shot in the bye lanes of Kolkata and on the river Hooghly with the majestic Howrah Bridge as a backdrop.
Poochhe Yeh Dil Se – Aurko’s second video was produced and directed by Sunil Raina of Thinking Pictures, Bangalore. The video of this soft rock-ish number has been tastefully shot in Ooty and Bangalore.
Yaadein – Aurko’s third video, ‘Yaadein’ is on the anvil, with the shooting having been completed recently in Goa.
[edit] Tours
Apart from performing extensively in Bangalore, Aurko has undertaken musical journeys regularly across the lengths and breadths of India – Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata (string of freedom concerts in August) and so on.
