Audubon Jazz Explosion
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Audubon Jazz Explosion Big Band performed in and around the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area from 1993 to 2003. Led by Collegeville Saxophonist/Clarinetist Bruce A. Greenwald, the band performed much of the repertoire of Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, Duke Ellington, and Benny Goodman. The band was modeled after the West Chester University Criterions Jazz Ensemble and performed at summer jazz festivals as well as private functions. The Audubon Jazz Explosion produced two professional recordings. Their Debut CD was first featured on WPEN 950 AM shortly after release. The second CD, "Summertime" was featured nationally and internationally and was a tribute to the types of music performed at the band's summer jazz festivals. The band was renamed in 2004 to the Jump City Jazz Orchestra and continues to perform in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
