[edit] Developer
ATV Offroad Fury and its sequel ATV Offroad Fury 2 were developed by Rainbow Studios, whose work includes the Splashdown series, MX Unleashed, and the PC series Motocross Madness. Developer Climax became the developer starting with ATV Offroad Fury 3, and has since made ATV Offroad Fury 3, ATV Offroad Fury 4, Blazin' Trails, and ATV Offroad Fury Pro, the last two of which were released for PSP.
[edit] The Series
There are 6 games so far in the series, 4 games for the PlayStation 2 and 2 for the PSP
[edit] Gameplay
Basic gameplay is very simple, with three main sections of gameplay changing though the game.
[edit] Events
In the game, the player may choose between 12 different types of all-terrain vehicle and race on 20 different tracks in a variety of types, including Training, Freestyle, Cross Country Endurance, MAXXIS Nationals, Stadium Supercross and Pro Career, as well as various multiplayer modes. Each of the different game types have different objectives the player must accomplish in order to succeed.
For example, in Freestyle, the player must get as many points as possible by performing stunts off ramps, but in Pro Career, the player must win different races to advance in the game and unlock new tracks.
[edit] Race modes
There are three different race modes that can be accessed through the track selection screen. These cannot be selected during Pro Career mode, and not all modes are available during certain Events.
[edit] Practice
Events:
- Freestyle Competition
- Cross Country Enduro
- MAXXIS Nationals
- Stadium Supercross
Race in this mode to practice on any of tracks you've unlocked by playing Pro Career. Practice races have an unlimited number of laps, so remember to quit when you've had enough practice.
[edit] Lap attack
Events:
- Cross Country Enduro
- MAXXIS Nationals
- Stadium Supercross
Lap Attack is available for 1-player only. This mode allows you to improve your lap time by racing against a "ghost" of your own ATV driver. The ghost will appear after you complete one lap. As with Practice mode, Lap Attack mode has an unlimited number of laps.
[edit] Single race
Events:
- Freestyle Competition
- Cross Country Enduro
- MAXXIS Nationals
- Stadium Supercross
In Single Race mode you can set the number of laps anywhere from 2 to 20 and compete with other riders.
[edit] Hints/Secrets
As with many other games, ATV has various secrets, cheats, unlockables and special hints that are accessed throughout the game. Here is the current list of all known tips, cheats, unlockables and secrets.
[edit] Tips
Gameplay in ATV Offroad Fury can be complex. Here are some various tips that may assist players in the game.
[edit] The Garage
In ATV Offroad Fury, a defining element of gameplay is being able to adjust your ATV's mechanical tuning. There are many elements that can be adjusted in this mode.
- Tire Friction ~ This adjustment increases or decreases traction. Increase this setting to grab harder in turns.
- Front Spring ~ Increase this setting to strengthen the front end for hard front wheel landings.
- Front Shock ~ Stiffen the front shock to avoid bouncing on hard landings.
- Rear Spring ~ Increase this setting to stiffen the rear end for hard rear wheel landings.
- Rear Shock ~ Stiffen the rear shock to avoid bouncing on hard landings.
- Gear Ratio ~ Moving this setting towards Acceleration (lowering the gear ratio) has the trade off of reduced top speed. Top speed is optimal when you are racing events with large straightaways or wide-open areas.
- Steering ~ Change the steering sensitivity here. Do not make the steering super reactive as this will result in over steering.
- Braking ~ Brakes are set to full power. Adjust the braking power for finer control while decelerating
[edit] Stunts
Another useful item in ATV Offroad Fury is the ability to pull off stunts while racing. Stunts can only be pulled while your ATV is in the air. While these only earn you points in Freestyle mode, they are fun to pull off during the course of a race. It is possible, with difficulty, to pull off more than one trick during a jump. However, if you land in the middle of a stunt, your ATV rider will wipe out.
- Heel Clicker ~ Up + Triangle
- Superman ~ Down/left + Circle
- Air Walk ~ Right + Circle
- Nac Nac ~ Left + Triangle
- Bar Kneel ~ Up/Left + Triangle
- Split X ~ Right + Triangle
- Scissors ~ Down/Left + Triangle
- Cordova ~ Up/Right + Circle
- Heart Attack ~ Up + Circle
- Lazy Boy ~ Down + Triangle
- Double Can Can ~ Left + Circle
- Tail Grab ~ Down + Circle
- Bar Hop ~ Up/Right + Triangle
- Saran Wrap ~ Down/Left + Circle
- Cliff Hanger ~ Up/Left + Circle
- Seat Grab ~ Down/Left + Triangle
[edit] Cheats
To activate these codes, set your pro-career name to the italic text.
- Tougher Game ~ ALLOUTAI
- All ATV's ~ BALLA
- All Tracks ~ WHATEXIT
- Fast Opponents ~ ALLQUIKI
- All tracks, suits and bikes ~ CHACHING
- Unlock everything ~ IGIVEUP
[edit] Unlockables

[edit] Secrets
- When faced with a large number of whoop-de-doos, place your weight on the back, and it is possible to hop over 4 at a time, shaving valuable seconds off your time.
- Pressing L1 + R1 can place your racer back on the track to continue racing.
- While holding L1 + R1, pressing the right analog thumbstick down zooms the camera out.
