Atpara is located at 24.8083° N 90.8667° E . It has 23395 units of house hold and total area 195.13 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^GRBangladeh, Atpara has a population of 120491. Males constitute are 51.15% of the population, and females 48.85%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 60858. Atpara has an average literacy rate of 24% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[1]
