[edit] What is known

Clevinger has released some teaser information about his upcoming novel through the Nuklear Age discussion area of his online forum, located here. All of the following information comes straight from Clevinger and most of it became public simply because of questions asked by his readers.

  • Atomik Age follows Atomik Lad, now known simply as Atomik, as he gathers a team of heroes to better coordinate superpowered efforts while the world continues to heal from the effects of Nihel's attack.
  • The story takes place seven years after the final page of Nuklear Age, thus making Atomik 27 years old (he starts as a nineteen year old in Nuklear Age, plus one year from the Aftermath chapter, plus the seven years leading up to Atomik Age)
  • The book's tone will be considerably different than Nuklear Age. Clevinger has said, "It's told from Sparky's perspective, so that colors everything. The humor from Nuklear Age feels like it comes out of a shotgun. By comparison, the humor in Atomik Age feels like a very precise laser powered by sarcasm and exhaustion."
  • The main characters are...
    • Atomik
    • Alex Halo, also known as Hierophant
    • Dr. Ima Genius
    • Shiro, the Tetsu Samurai
    • Gamma Girl (new, powers unknown)
    • Jack Legion (new, powers unknown)
    • Trick Shot (new, powers unknown)
  • Other familiar characters will make brief appearances.
    • When asked directly about whether or not Nuklear Man would appear, Clevinger has not specifically said yes or no.
  • Clevinger has said that both Atomik and Alex have gained a greater control over and/or awareness of their respective abilities in the intervening years. Specific implications about what these means have not been forthcoming.
    • It is not yet clear if the other major returning hero, Shiro, will experience a similar upgrade.
    • It has been hinted that Alex acts a bit "strangely" due to his powers now.
  • Since Atomik Age had always been a part of Clevinger's plan for his setting, it will tie up many loose ends introduced in Nuklear Age.
