Crowd is a web-based single sign-on (SSO) tool that simplifies application provisioning and identity management. Crowd is comprised of an administration console and an integration API where multiple web applications are integrated. The software is free for official non-profit organizations and charities. Academic and commercial organizations are charged based on number of users.

Some features of Crowd are that it connects to multiple LDAP servers such as Microsoft Active Directory, and integrates legacy user repositories. It also provides access control to select user / group specific applications and connects the existing application framework to new web applications.

Crowd was originally designed and developed by Authentisoft (Minneapolis-based software company) under the brand of IDX (Identity Exchange) and was purchased in July of 2006.
