Atlantogenata

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Atlantogenata is a mammal clade containing the cohorts or super-orders Xenarthra, Afrotheria and Meridiungulata. These groups originated and radiated in the South American and African continents, presumably in the Cretaceous. There is some genetic evidence of uniting the Xenarthra and Afrotheria, but morphologically most Afrotheres and all Meridiungulates seem to be Ungulates.
