Actually, so did Con Leahy (Gold, high jump and silver, triple jump). Unfortunately for them the organisers entered them as UK athletes, so the British flag was flown and the British anthem was played, which famously led O'Connor to scale a flagpole and wave the Irish flag during the ceremony.
I think both men should be listed as UK, but asterisked or something and a note added that they entered themselves as Irish. I'll leave it up to another editor as to exactly how that should be done. Scolaire 23:39, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, at the Olympics, the team in 1906 would have been known as "Great Britain and Ireland", so that easily handles this situation with respect to the medal table. I do think this is an interesting story that ought to be included somewhere! (perhaps Great Britain and Ireland at the 1906 Summer Olympics when it's written) Andrwsc 14:54, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
