- The picture is used in the Dancing and singing prowess section of the article Fred Astaire to illustrate the artist in his role as a leading vocalist of the 1930s and has been used by one of Astaire's biographers for a similar purpose. It is also the only photograph in the article provide a head and chest shot of the artist.
- The photograph as reproduced here is of low resolution and is very substantially inferior to the original.
This work is a copyrighted publicity photograph. It is believed that the use of some such photographs to illustrate:
- the person(s), product, event, or subject in question
- where the image is unrepeatable, i.e. a free image could not be created to replace it
- on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation,
