[edit] Bio

Astrid Pröll is a group founded during the summer of 2004 by veteran musicians of the local underground scene, inspired musically and thematically by revolution and counterculture. The band seamlessly integrates a wide array of influences including krautrock, rock in opposition, ambient, post rock, space and stoner rock among others, creating an alternative for those tired of overdone formulas.

The band takes its name from one of the founding members and survivor of the Rote Armee Faktion (Red Army Faction), also known as the Baader-Meinhof Gang, a student protest movement from the 1970’s that declared war on a fascist government with ex-Nazi Party members in control of Parliament. This movement took radical action against social conformity and state-sponsored oppression. Sounds familiar? Astrid Pröll, the band shares that revolutionary ideal regarding individual action, channeled through music and multimedia art.

Astrid Pröll’s predominantly instrumental compositions are juxtaposed with projected images developed by various local visual artists to augment the live experience. For them it is more about the music and the whole idea of a live and studio concept rather than plain musicianship.

In the year 2006 Astrid Pröll will be promoting their self-titled debut album, released independently by Noisex Records and Carbono Musica.

The band will be touring all over Puerto Rico and plans are to gig on selected cities in the United States, bringing their live experience to every stage possible spreading the message of action in music and music as a concise tool of action.
