Asterix and Obelix vs Caesar

Asterix and Obelix vs Caesar (Aust.) or Asterix and Obelix take on Caesar (UK) (French: Astérix et Obélix contre César) is a Franco-Italo-German movie, created by Claude Zidi, and released by 1999.
The film is based on the fictitious comic characters of Asterix and Obelix created by René Goscinny (writer) and Albert Uderzo (illustrator). Uderzo has continued the series since the death of Goscinny in 1977. Obelix is a tall fat person with a small brain (or a brain of a child) played by Gérard Depardieu. Asterix is Obelix's small friend who is clever and cautious.

The gaul little village is in trouble: it is the last place not controlled by Rome. The Romans have been trying to capture Asterix and Obelix during days. They finally arrive, by throw them a boulder from a cliff all the soldiers celebrate along with Caius Bonus, their chief. But the rock soon starts to move, to the horror of the Romans. Bonus orders them to jump on the rock. Meanwhile below the rock Obelix has a bottle of magic potion and drinks some with Asterix so that they have enough force to beat the Romans, then they throw the rock and the Roman soldiers into the air and get up all to the horror of Bonus. They come to Bonius and start teasing him and pulling and turning his ear. Then the tax-controller arrives to the village to collect the taxes explaining that it will be used for building roads, feeding the army, etc. But he did not notice that while entering the village, the box in which held the money dropped a coin and was picked by one of the villagers and all said that "There must be more in the box", so their plan was to rob the box. Meanwhile the tax-collector, Tullius Destructivus waits for the money and instead of giving him the money the villagers give him some broken Roman shields and helmets saying that This what your soldirs left here! A furious Destructivus orders to raze the village but the gauls with their magic potion send them flying into the air. But Asterix says that that box would only lead to even more problems with Romans. So they make a vote, all the villagers that want to keep the treasure move to the left and all of the villagers who do not want to keep it move to the right and so all the villagers move to the left except Asterix and the treasure is kept. The next day Obelix goes with a rock carved in a heart shape to declare his love to Panacea. But just as he arrives, Panacea goes to see Tragicomix her boyfriend but Obleix is sure that it is her brother and Asterix says to him that it's not her brotrher but her boyfriend. That night there is a huge storm and they are all at innertable as a Druid comes and tells them that he can see the future and so they give him a bowl of soup and he starts to tell the future and he starts to tell about the treasure but he stops telling that there are bad magic waves and that someone has so Asterix is sent outside. There Obelix asks the druid if Panacea will fall in love with him and the druid sees that yes he will. Obelix rushes outside to Asterix about that. Asterix says in response that that druid is a liar and that everybody knows that. The next day there is Tullius Destructivus, the tax-controller that says to Julius Caesar that the tax money has been robbed. Caesar is furious and sends the army and goes himself to investigate. When the army arrive to the village The gauls drink the magic potion while Caius Bonus is pleading Caesar not to let the army enter the village but they give the orders and the army advance to the village while the villagers run down the hill and send the army flying in the sky, falling, and then running away and some soldiers are banged to make music. Caesar who is on a hill not far from the village with Destructivus says that the gauls are really wild people and Destrutivus says that they may be wild people but they have sense of music. Days after Asterix, Oblelix, Dogomattix, and Geatafix, the magician are off to a druid conference in the sacred forest. When they arrive Getafix tells them to stop because only druids can enter the forest. when he is gone the tell Dogomattix to follow him and come back if the is a problem. It turns out that almost all the other druids are disgused Romans who want to know how to make the magic potion. Dogomattix the runs back to tell Asterix and Obelix of the danger. They rush in the forest and discover all the real druids hanged, they free them and Getafix complains that only druids can enter the forest. A Roman camp is just next to the camp and obelix has an idea. They tell Dogmattix to go and rob some bread to the Romans. He does it and he is chased by a Roman soldier. He chases him into the forest and is caught by Obelix, who takes off his uniform and puts it on him and disguises him as a Roman soldier and carries Getafix. He tells that he just caught his prisoner and Destructivs says that he will double his pay. Getafix is sent to an underground cell with Asterix and Destructivus says to the now Obelus that he will see him that night at the games and reavels his secret to Obelus: Make a coup to Caesar and take his place. Meanwhile Getafix is forced to reveal the secret of the potion because Asterix and Dogomattix are in a torture machine. That day Caesar has been made prisoner by the gauls and so Destructivus is appointed to replace him. That at the games, Asterix is placed in cage with snakes like boas and cobras and outside there are lions. Asterix manages to open the cage but the lions are waiting outside. He escapes the lions and now has to cross a swamp full of alligators. Meanwhile Obelus and Destructivus make a bet that if Asterix wuold be able to cross the obstacles or not. If he crosses them he would have live saved. While he has crossed the swamp with the crocs he now has to cross a bath of spiders. He drowns in them and Destructivs says to Obelus You are now worrying for you'r bet! But Asterix reapears and has almost crossed the arena the joker arrives. Asterix is attacked by a Wild Man and he says something but there is no sound. What is he saying? asks Obelus. Destructivus, who can read lips, transelates this: Obelus, rebecome Obelix! Really!? asks Obelus to Destructivus Yes he replies. Obelus does so, punches Destructivus, throws the wild man to Destructivus and frees asterix, then blows all of the Spiders to the soldiers, surfs with Asterix on the Alligators, scares off the lions and the snakes then blasts his out of the arena, frees Getafix and heads back home. Meanwhile the furious Destructivus orders again to destroy the village and put it off the map!. When Asterix, Obelix, Dogomattix and Getafix arrive to the village the other villages think there are Romans (Obelix is still with his uniform) and drink some magic potion and open the village gate only to discoves that there are not Romans and Obelix says that he is being a Roman. Then the real Romans arrive and because they now have the magic potion the gauls have to find something else. Getafix says that double-headed unicorn milk will do the trick but Asterix says that the has been extinct for 200 years. But Getafix says his grandfather has some. They go to the cave where he lives and ask hin some but before to give them some they must respond 2 questions and have 20 seconds each to respond them. they do so and have the milk and then mox it with magic potion and the effects are terrific: Asterx and Obelix are duplicated ans soon there are hundreds of them and they defeat the Roman's much to the horror of Tullius Destructivus who is on a sort of wooden tower. Then the wooden tower collapses with Destructivus on it and the gauls free Caesar who promised that if they helped him to gain his thrown again the village will be a tax-free-zone. All of the soldiers say AVE CEASAR! and capture Destructivus under ceasar's orders who says CIAO CEASAR! Later Obelix declares love to Pancea but she says that loves Obelix like a brother and that she is getting married with Tragicomix next month. Then Obelix asks Getafix for some more potion and Getafix says don't't you reacon that we have too much Obelixes! Obelix says that it is not for him but for Panacea, Getafix gives him some potion and makes Panacea drink it the she doubles and the real one goes back Tragicomix and the copy goes with Obelix. Meanwhile all the copys explode and turn into soap bubles, and just as Obelix kisses Panacea's copy she explodes into bubles. Days after i'ts Obelixes birthday and Assurancetourix is hanged for the day so he can not sing. And Roman soldiers led by Caius Bonusarrive with a banner saying: Happy Birthday Obelix! Asterix and Obelix ask Caius Bonus to come out and the play with sending him into the air.
