wow so many now...

The big question is how many are actually diagnosed and so have it for sure? --Mistress Selina Kyle (Α⇔Ω ¦ ⇒✉) 11:58, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

I think there would be a lot less self proclaimed "Aspies" if the syndrome had any severe stigmatic indications. IANAP, but I think this is relatively faddish, since the main indications are extreme depth of knowledge in a subject, and social awkwardness. I have the greatest of sympathies for those with diagnosed Autism, but this seems more like a nerd bandwagon. Cfpresley 18:19, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Absolutely. Who wouldn't want to self identify with a disease that adherants claim Albert Einstein had? -- Malber (talkcontribs) 13:19, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Excuse me? Bandwagon? I have been medically diagnosed with Asperger's. Do you think I want to be this way? NO. And if there were any severe indications, we'd be Autistic. Asperger's is basically a less severe form of Autism, and it is more than just savantism and social awkwardness. Not only that, but we are also classified as being on the autistic spectrum. Asperger's was defined by Hans Asperger in 1944 (same year as Autism), named and translated into English in 1981, and included in the DSM-IV in 1994. That doesn't sound like a fad to me. --Dubhagan 05:39, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
I was tested by a university and found out that my parent's speculations about me having Asperger's syndrome were true. I also found out my IQ was 149. For those of you who dont know, that means I was one point away from being genius. I know that I am not a wannabe.--Eiyuu Kou 18:55, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Given the lack of a definite diagonosis for Asperger's, you're about as well off bragging about having ADD. 68.222.24.215 04:28, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
I don't think that he was saying that people who are diagnosed are 'poseurs' per se but that people who may not have Asperger's syndrome may say they do without being diagnosed. T REXspeak 00:02, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
I think he's speaking against the socially akward who don't have aspergers and are just very bad at talking with girls who "self-diagnose" themselves with aspergers without any evidence based solely on the fact that they have an extreme depth of knowledge in a subject and social akwardness, thinking, I guess, that the prescense of symptoms obviously means that they have aspergers, so they self-diagnose themselves with it as a means of having a social clique, and you can't deny that aspergian wikipedians is a social clique, and association with dead smart people who other people have alleged to have aspergers, leading them to make claims that "People with aspergers are a higher form of human life" and "Lack of Aspergers is a disorder", which is disgusting, quite frankly

How do I add my name to this? Alister Namarra 02:11, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Nerd Bandwagon? I didn't want this. I was diagnosed by people who probably know better than you. Doc Strange 14:16, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cause effect?

Asbergians easily systematize.

Wikipedia is the systematization of information.

Is it any wonder that Asbergians enjoy Wikipedia?

Is there a higher ratio of Asbergians editing Wikipedia than a proportional group of "normal" people? --Capsela 16:18, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Um, just to let you know, the term is Aspergian. --Dubhagan 05:39, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Name

Isn't the term Aspie more common than Aspergian? I believe this category should be called Aspie Wikipedians because of that. --Dubhagan 05:42, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Heck no. I wouldn't want to be called an Aspie. We are an upper form of human life and we shouldn't have slang named after us.--Eiyuu Kou 18:58, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

- No way is anyone gonna call me Aspie. It sounds like we're being made fun of.--Defender_of_Flaky 22:08, 03 November 2006 (UTC)

Why do people think asperger's is an upper form of human life? It's a mental disorder. It's good to see the positives in it, but don't pretend it makes you better than other people. Equal, not better. drawah64

Aspie is the "inside name" (=. I've never heard the term "Aspergian" in my life. Doc Strange 14:15, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Help improve AS article

The AS article is up for major review, as to whether it still meets the criteria for a featured article. Is there anyone out there to help work on fixing it? Sandy 20:35, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] how can i get listed here

Help, i want to be listed her, cos i'm proud of who i am, but cant find my userpage—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Alexander101010 (talkcontribs) 17:34, 29 July 2006.

- Well, anonymous aspie, you have to create your userpage, then get the tag. I am a diagnosed aspie and i don't want to put all my files, including years of IEPs on my userpage to prove i am an aspie. And who would want to fake being one? Doc Strange 18:01 06 October 2006 (UTC)

That guy VVVVVV

- I don't know about the rest of you but I really don't think Asperger's should even be listed as a disorder. In fact Asperger's has been proven to make people smarter. I'm proud to have Asperger's and I can understand why someone would fake having it. Because we're the ones who invented everything. There isn't a single successful inventor that did not have Asperger's. Asperger's is not a disease. In fact, lack of it is a disease. Now then, I've added both tags to my userpage and it still wont add me. Could someone help? Defender_of_Flaky 22:03 03 November 2006 (UTC)

Asperger's syndrome obviously doesn't "make you smarter", or you wouldn't have posted that.

--Hathkrast 22:23, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Well said Hathkrast.

i am 15 and i have aspergers. i always feel put down when its called disease, condition, mental illness and disorder. it is just a difference. i mean many aspergians do fine in a normal school and i go to a normal school. i have always found it hard to make friends but i have a few good friends and they mean all the world to me. I find things such as shape and space, co ordination and organisation difficult and i have been bullied alot in the past, but am good at english literature and history and drama and people often ask me for help at those subjects, im also not bad at statistics and numerology, its shapes and all thoses stuff i hate!! i also hate art as well. im sooo glad i could give it up last year. Yearh, so please people dont use those words, its really horrible and makes us more vullnable when not necessory!! i hate it! from Rebecca

what?

Well, Asperber's is kinda a "gift & a curse" (I hate cliches.) Yeah, alot of us are smart, kinda weird and for some reason every other person I know with Asperger's has at least one ferret and is a huge Cure fan. Hey, i'm smart. Some other kids with Asperger's may be y'know Forrest Gump. A good majority of Aspies are very bright. Look at Gary Numan or the creator of BitTorrent. Doc Strange 14:14, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Quick question

Is this a free ticket to act like an asshole? A...friend wants to know. 72.144.68.156 23:37, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

DER DER DERRRR

Mr. Anonymous ISP up there, We're not all Craig Nicholls. And the "Der Der Derrr" thing hurts. Bad. Don't all of a sudden claim you are an Aspie just so you can flip out at a Burger King. And there are varying degrees of serverity too. Doc Strange 14:08, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
