Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA) is a Jewish Community Center located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Its general mission is to promote the well being and development of Jewish life in Argentina and to secure the continuity and values of Jews.
It provides quality experiences through a mix of formal and informal Jewish educational, recreational, and cultural activities. People of all ages are invited to participate at their level of interest and encouraged toward higher levels of involvement in Jewish life and in the community at large.
On July 18, 1994 (the 10th of Av in the Hebrew calendar), a traffic-van loaded with explosives smashed into the AMIA, killing 85 people and destroying the building completely (AMIA Bombing).
