Asma Gull Hasan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Asma Gull Hasan is a Muslim feminist writer. She is the daughter of Pakistani immigrants and was born in Chicago, USA and raised in Pueblo, Colorado. [1]

She is the author of American Muslims: The New Generation (Continuum 2000), and Why I Am a Muslim (HarperCollins Thorsons/Element 2004).

Hasan attended Wellesley College for undergraduate studies. [2] Hasan currently works at HealthTrio, an enormous HMO founded and chaired by her father, Dr. Malik Hasan. Her mother Seeme and brother Ali are founders of Muslims for Bush (renamed Muslims for America), in which Asma actively participates, and the family has Bush Pioneer status.

Hasan has faced criticism for the many elementary factual errors in her books[1] and for her view that the hijab is not required. "Modesty comes from within," said Hasan, who chooses not to cover her hair. [3]
