ASML Holding N.V. or ASML (Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturer Lithography) is a Dutch manufacturer of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry, manufacturing complex machines that imprint the design of a chip (integrated circuit) onto a silicon wafer to produce the actual chip.
Of all computerchips in the world, 60% are made with ASML machines. The two main competitors are Canon and Nikon. ASML is listed on Euronext Amsterdam (Euronext: ASML) and NASDAQ (NASDAQ: ASML). ASML was a Joint-Venture from a division of Philips and ASM International.
