Thanks for uploading Image:Phys world cover.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images (on my talk page) and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much, BrokenSegue 22:35, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- I placed the image copyright tag in the article on Physics World. I did not realise I had to put it in the photo page. Thanks. askewmind 22:43, Feb 16, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Scientist Stub
Don't do it the reclassification. Fisrt it seems it has to get approval from Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Criteria so wait. instead list the stub that qualify for change in that page. Also you forgot to sign --LexCorp 01:09, 18 Feb 2005 (UTC)
I see you've been adding scientist stub to a bunch of articles. However, Wikipedia:Find or fix a stub defines a stub as "a very short article, generally of one paragraph or less". Many of the articles you have tagged, such as Owen Chamberlain, are much longer than this and dont need tags.--Jiang 01:42, 18 Feb 2005 (UTC)
-
- Yes, sorry I just found out about it. I had the impression from reading the help files that a stub was a work in progress, and article in need of contributions. Me bad (wont happen again) --Askewmind 01:51, Feb 18, 2005 (UTC)
-
-
- OK, it seems it will be allowed so you can continue but with the limits set by the stub definition. -LexCorp 04:52, 18 Feb 2005 (UTC)
-
- There are other tags for noting whether an article needs attention, expansion, or cleanup. Generally one adds such a tag when they can contribute personally to the article. Otherwise, it creates a lot of work for others to clean up afterward.
- It helps to use the pipe symbol after the name of the article to properly alphabetize it in the category listing: for example, {{scientist-stub |Eotvos}} will put Eotvos under E...etc. in the listing of scientists needing attention. That is why Max Born showed up under M. If you have time, Eotvos could use a physicist's attention. -- Ancheta Wis 12:29, 18 Feb 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Spanish constitution 1931
Thanks for noticing the erroneous link. It has now been corrected. I apreciate the keen eye, but I think that correction is often more constructive than deletion. Askewmind | (Talk) 22:38, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Of course I agree that "correction is more constructive than deletion". I was unable to find the Spanish Constitution of 1931 at Wikisource. I didn't know to look at wikisource:Constitución de la República Española de 1931. dbenbenn | talk 02:22, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Tale of Genji
salut Askewmind, i see that you have downloaded some beautiful images of the Tale of Genji. [1]
I am trying to find one as well, for the article i created on Suetsumuhana, however I cannot find the internet source where you got the image from? i was maybe going to ask them as well if they have one for Chapter 6. could you help me please? merci... Antares911 5 July 2005 13:21 (UTC)
-
- Hi Antares911, the images for the Tale of Genji where scanned by me directly from the book reffered The Burke Albums, property of Mary Griggs Burke. There is an illustration on chapter 6 I will scan it for you but be patient because I have lately too much work around, maybe I could by end of next week. Askewmind | (Talk) 5 July 2005 15:51 (UTC)

-
- hi there Askewmind. wow are you serious?? that´s amazing, that would be so cool. i thought you had it from some internet site, but i didn´t know they were your own scans.
-
-
-
- yeah, if this is not too much of a hassle and work for you, that would be really awesome, I would be very grateful. I´m looking for the Chapter 6, with the Suetsumuhana, aka Princess Hitachi. maybe there is a nice image where Genji is talking to her, or while she is playing the koto, some image where she is depicted as well (even if it´s only her sleeves peeking from under the sudare). thanks alot for your kind help... [edit] Suetsumuhana
hello there Askewmind,
do you think it is possible to get a scan from the "Suetsumuhana" chapter of the Tale of Genji? Your images so far look really awesome, congratulations. Also, do you think you could get a good scan of a court lady wearing the junihitoe twelve-layered-robe? that would be really cool, thanks alot... regards Gryffindor 15:19, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
- Alas, this would be possible no more... for the time being. I have no longer acces to the scanner I used to get the images from. I will however keep in mind so that i can do this as soon as i get access to a new scanner. I already had a revious request to scan the Suetsumuhana plate. I dont forget but like i said i'll try as soon as i can. Askewmind | (Talk) 17:30, 18 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Unis.jpg
I was going over Image:Unis.jpg and noticed that you uploaded it and claimed it was for "non-comercial purposes at the Wikipedia site." Are you the creator of this image? If not, can you tell us where you got it from and how to contact them? If so, can you please license it under the GFDL? If it is for use only at wikipedia, it will be deleted, because our content in mirrored by a number of different sites. I have listed it at WP:PUI. Thank :). -Greg Asche (talk) 06:02, 5 November 2005 (UTC)
- I have done the same for all the other images on the University of Surrey page. Please also review any other images you may have uploaded to other pages. Note that the licence you have selected carries the note that "Most importantly, derivative work, commercial use, and use in non-educational contexts must be permitted. If they are not, please list this image for deletion." -- SGBailey 21:04, 5 November 2005 (UTC)
-
- I got permeision from Surrey University so long as the images are not used for comercial purposes. Askewmind | (Talk) 11:43, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

- In that case they unfortunately need deleting. -- SGBailey 11:03, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Could I have your opinion on a translation?
Hello, Askewmind. If you aren't too busy, I would like to get the opinion of some native Spanish speakers on my recent translation of José Millán Astray (from here). I attempted to do it mostly verbatim, replacing a few idiomatic expressions when necessary. I have a few concerns, which I mention on the talk page. If you have the time, it would benefit the article greatly to be reviewed. Thanks. Bhumiya/Talk 03:47, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for giving it a look! I'm glad I didn't totally misinterpet that expression. Bhumiya 22:58, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Ellipsometer image kit.gif
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Ellipsometer image kit.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Pagrashtak 05:01, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, sorry i uploaded this image so long ago i forgot. I have now uploaded a new image, taken by me on my lab with the same instrument and released it to the Public Domain. Please delete the old image. It was taken from J A Woolans webpage and I am unsure about the licensing terms. Askewmind | (Talk) 13:40, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

- This image was provided by the University of Surrey public relations department for the purposes of illustrating the university in wikipedia. I personally spoke to the PR people while I was at Surrey. What short of verification would you need? Askewmind | (Talk) 20:46, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image:AndreJuillard-Dargaud.jpg listed for deletion
An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:AndreJuillard-Dargaud.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Thanks for uploading Image:Lake.unis.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Surrey.coat.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Surrey.coat.png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.
Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Durin 15:43, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Exeteruniarms.jpg
Why did you remove the "no license" tag and mark this image as {{GFDL}} [2]? I notice you gave no explanation for the edit. Do you know it's GFDL, or are you just guessing? I seriously doubt the image is GFDL. It may be old enough to be in the public domain (the University of Exeter was founded in 1855). Or it may be still protected by copyright, in which case it should be tagged as fair use. To keep this image, we need to know which of these possibilities is true, and be certain of it. Otherwise it will be deleted. —freak(talk) 02:06, Jan. 1, 2007 (UTC)
