[edit] Total Population
Due to the different global definitions of Asian, I'm removing the total population, as it would vary too much depending on which is used. British definition would only be 1 bil. etc. Nikolai Kudrinsky 02:42, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- So long as the article makes clear its definition, there's no problem. And this is the definition provided: Asia, per THIS article, consists of East, South and Southeast Asia. In the infobox the population of each of these is given. There is nothing wrong with adding them up and posting the sum. If you want to remove the total, remove the regionals too. Of couse, I don't see how you could justify that, since that would introduce a whole new can o'worms, i.e., the fact that "Asia" would be undefined. SamEV 06:01, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

- Both of you make valid points. In fact, the entire template should probably be removed, as it's not an ethnicity. Thalasy 07:25, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

- You're right, it's not. And even if it were, the template seems to reflect the U.S. Census' definition of Asian, not a global one, as Nikolai said. SamEV 08:01, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, it should be removed. It’s actually stated very clearly in the header of Asian (people) that that article is about legal definitions. —Lagalag 08:03, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
