Talk:Ash (band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ash covered ABBAs Does Your Mother Know? around 1996. This appears to go unmentioned either here or on their official site - perhaps they are embarrassed by it - however, it should be included because if it weren't for that single charting in the UK, very few people would have ever taken any notice of them. Article needs updating to include this. Graham 23:37, 14 August 2005 (UTC)
- Feel free to add it then! -- Chuq 00:46, 15 August 2005 (UTC)
- I would, but I know almost nothing about it - not even sure of the year, let alone month or chart position, etc. Graham 01:48, 15 August 2005 (UTC)
- It didn't "chart" (enter the top 40). their first charting track was Girl From Mars in August 1995. --Kiand 10:15, 22 August 2005 (UTC)
- Does Your Mother Know? was a B-side on the Oh Yeah single. I don't think they're embarassed by it, according to Tim's bio, they're one of his influences. I don't know how you got the idea Does Your Mother Know? was a big hit for the band. DarthInsinuate 14:32, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

yeah, they'd had several medium-big hit singles by the time Oh Yeah came out, and had been Radio 1 darlings since Peel and Chris Morris (yes, chris morris) championed the fuck out of the Petrol singles

- Hmmm, interesting. I assumed it was a hit because it sure seemed to get a lot of radio airplay. Perhaps it stuck in my ear because I knew the song already. The other Ash releases were less 'catchy' in this sense, but OTOH they seemed to be the band everyone was talking about. I guess I put 2 and 2 together and assumed that this track was responsible for that 'buzz'. I stand corrected! Graham 00:38, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Vietnam or Vietnam Death
The last edit says Tim and Mark's first band was called Vietnam Death, but from most sources, on the internet at least, it was just called Vietnam. Can anyone provide a source for "Vietnam Death"? --- DarthInsinuate 12:14, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Toured in 2002?
I went to a concert featuring Moby and David Bowie back in the summer of '02, and one of the opening bands was called Ash. I don't know if it's the same one or not, but I thought I'd put it out there in case someone else does know. If it was them, that should probably be included in the article. --Icarus 05:50, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
