Ashutosh Gowariker (Marathi: आशुतोष गोवारीकर) (born February 15, 1968) is an Indian actor, writer, producer and director.

Ashutosh started his career as an actor making his debut with director Ketan Mehta's film Holi in 1984. He then appeared in several television serials such as Kachchi Dhoop (1987) and Circus (1989). He also acted in many other films, few of which were Naam (1986), Chamatkar (1992) and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1993).
His debut film as a director was Pehla Nasha released in 1993 which was a flop. His second film Baazi released in 1995 starring Aamir Khan was an average success.
He teamed up with Aamir Khan once again who produced and starred in his next film, the critically acclaimed Lagaan, released in 2001, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and was one of the highest grossing films of the year.
He then directed Swades, released in 2004 starring Shah Rukh Khan. Swades received mixed reviews by critics and failed at the box office. However it was considered to be much more popular overseas. He is known to be an actor's director. Each of his male stars went on to win the Filmfare Best Actor award. Jodha-Akbar starring Hrithik Roshan is his current project and scheduled for release in 2007.

- Before becoming their director with Lagaan and Swades, Ashutosh had acted in films with both Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan. He made his acting debut with Aamir in Holi and had acted with Shahrukh in Chamatkar and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na.
