According to one of the more commonly used chronologies of the middle Assyrian period, he reigned from 1179 BC to 1133 BC. He succeeded his father, Ninurta-apil-Ekur, and was succeeded by his son, Ninurta-tukulti-Ashur. Beyond this, little is known of his long reign.
