Ashta is a city and a municipality in Sehore district in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India.

There is also a place called ASHTA in Maharashtra. This Ashta is a municipality from long back in British rule from year 1853. It has an Engineering college Annasaheb Dange College of Engineering and Technology. The college has seen a rapid growth under leadership of Mr. V.N.Bapat who was one of the most efficient people India would have seen. The college has produced some Engineers like Mr. Rohit R. Chavan who is presently working in Indussoft.


Ashta is located at 23.02° N 76.72° E[1]. It has an average elevation of 519 metres (1702 feet).

Ashta has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 58% of the males and 42% of females literate. 17% of the population is under 6 years of age.
