Ashley Suzanne Abbott Lassiter Newman Bladeson Howard Carlton is a fictional character from the American soap opera The Young and the Restless. Actress Eileen Davidson originated the role in 1982, departed in 1989 and returned from 1999 to 2007. During the ten years that Davidson was away, the part of Ashley was played by Brenda Epperson Doumani (1989-1996), then Shari Shattuck (1996-1999). The character began appearing on The Bold and the Beautiful on March 9, 2007, once again played by Davidson.

The strong-willed eldest daughter of Jabot Cosmetics tycoon John Abbott (Jerry Douglas), Ashley is a prominent Jabot Executive Board Member and chemist, and is fiercely protective of her family (she even hired a private investigator to stalk her stepmother Gloria, played by Judith Chapman), especially where her daughter Abby (Darcy Rose Byrnes) is concerned.
Having previously been married to Dr. Stephen Lassiter (Rod Arrants) (dissolved by his death), Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) (Abby's biological father) (divorced), Blade Bladeson (Michael Tylo) (dissolved by his death), Cole Howard (J. Eddie Peck) (divorced) and Brad Carlton (Don Diamont) (divorced; 2006), Ashley briefly dated Paul Williams (Doug Davidson). In 1983-84, she was engaged to Eric Garrison, but she broke it off when she found out he had previously been her mother's lover. Eventually, she had a love affair with Victor Newman, who was married to Nikki Reed (Melody Thomas Scott). She became pregnant and had an abortion without telling him first. She regretted that decision and about 10 years later, she chose to artificially inseminate herself with Victor's genetic material without his knowledge or consent. Her attempt was successful at becoming pregnant, and today she is mother to daughter Abby.
In early 2007, Ashley was transferred to Jabot International in Hong Kong, taking Abby with her. Ashley arrived in Los Angeles, California at the request of Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang), after she asked her to create a new fragrance line for Forrester Originals. It has been revealed that Ashley has had a secret relationship with one of B&B's core characters, Rick Forrester (Kyle Lowder), who is now dating teenaged Phoebe Forrester (MacKenzie Mauzy).
