Ashanti is the Grammy Award-winning-for-Contemporary R&B self-titled debut album by American R&B/pop singer Ashanti, released in 2002 (see 2002 in music).The album debuted at #1 on the charts selling over 500,000 copies in the first week - the most copies sold in a first week by a new female artist. It sold over three million copies in US, 300,000 in UK and 6.5 million worldwide.
