As Friends Rust is a hardcore band from Gainesville, Florida. Though they only had few releases, they were very popular and gained much respect in the underground scene, and grew to tour worldwide.

[edit] History

In early 1996 Jeronimo, Henry, and Matt were jamming under the name Wayside. Soon after Damien was recruited from Culture to step in on vocals. After recording a 6 track demo, the band soon disbanded, and was not picked up until 1998 when Damien revived it with new members. The new line-up recorded a single new song, and used four from the demo, to come out with the debut The Fists of Time on Good Life Recordings. A year later, with a slightly different line-up, the Split with Discount came out, and they quickly went on tour.

Another major line-up change and the new EP God Hour and As Friends Rust were released on both Good Life Recordings, and to there newly signed label, Doghouse Records. Each label now had rights to the bands recordings, which led to Doghouse to re-releasing the bands debut album The Fists of Time in 2000, now adding two songs and a new packaging. The band went on to tour for three years with the same tracks, continuing to grow, and gain respect on the underground scene.

Having lost three members, the band was not sure whether to continue. After a well-worth time to rest, the new members set out to write an albums worth of material, which had yet to be seen. And so came Won, in the fall of 2001. The album was well received and showed that the band had matured in song writing. Another big tour came, and a notable show in London at the Camden Underworld was recorded to later come out on DVD, along with long time touring partners, Strike Anywhere. A compilation album titled Eleven Songs was released that same year through Golf Records, a British label, and contained most songs from the Good Life period.

The band, now on tight strings, went back in the studio for a one-off record deal with there long time look-upon Equal Vision Records. Before the bands final and most acclaimed release was out, Damien quit the band, leaving the rest of the members to do a short tour with no lead vocalist, and to finally call it quit. A band was formed from the remaining members called Salem, but did not last quite long.
