[edit] Article creation

I have been looking through the list of unwatched pages (available only to administrators) and found 15, Park Avenue. I see that you created this but were not watching it. You may want to go to your preferences and under the "editing" tab turn on "Add pages you edit to your watchlist". This will enable you to keep an eye out for any edits that are made to pages you create and help to revert vandalism. If you do decide to turn it on can you please drop me a note on my talk page so I can cut down my excessive watchlist. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 03:03, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kolkata peer review

Hi! Kolkata is currently undergoing peer review here. Please help improve the article. Thanks.--Dwaipayanc 10:32, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi, Thanks a lot for contributing in Kolkata. However, please go through Wikipedia:Wikiproject_Indian_cities, Wikipedia:Peer_review/Kolkata and articles like Mumbai and Bangalore. You will see certain formats. The change you made in Kolkata was not following the format at certain instances. Though personally I like the style of sub-sectioning transport etc., it may not be following the rules. Let's see what the others say. Also, the "Utility services" sections look choppy, especially if you see it in the "Printable version". So please try to abide by the format, otherwise the article may fail the peer review !! Bye.--Dwaipayanc 15:35, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
I am sorry that I had to remove a little bit of info that you added on Mohiner Ghraguli, and Goutam Chattopadhyay. The size of the article Kolkata is increasing alarmingly. So have to without such relatively less important information. Do not think I am not a fan of Mohiner Ghoraguli ! I am. But , in stead of that info, if we can add a bit of info on the classical music scenario of Kolkata, that would help portray the cultural aspect of the city more. Today I added a bit of info on the theatres of Kolkata in generic terms, not stating any person's name, though mentioning Utpal Dutt or Shambhu Mitra would have been good. We have to control our impulses . Otherwise we wont be able to get Kolkata to the standard of FA. Bye. and thanks for excellent work related to Kolkata.--Dwaipayanc 18:08, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Allahabad Bank logo.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Allahabad Bank logo.gif. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Image legality questions. 19:58, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Jalpesh.jpg

If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

[edit] Kalighat Falta Railway and others

Hi! That was an interesting article. Do you know anything about the Martin railway? We read about about it in the Tenida stories! See tha old maps in Kolkata image gallery. Some maps have a line starting somewhere from the North Kolkata called Barasat-Basirhat line. Some maps have another rail-line starting from Sealdah, running along the upper circular road, then taking a turn left, ending almost at the bank of the Ganges. Probably that line is what we read about in Jakhon Choto Chilam by Satyajit Ray, where he describes a line going along the upper circular road. It will be great to have articles on those railways! Bye.--Dwaipayanc 19:31, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

I was just wondering where are you collecting the info from? I mean the info on the old railway lines? :). Bye.--Dwaipayanc 10:52, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hi

Hi. Noticed your edit and the subsequent rollback on the Ahmedabad page. Just dropped in to say hi. You are doing some great work at wikipedia. Continue at the same rate. Feel free to contact me if you have some problem. - Aksi_great 13:29, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

I think being classified as A1 only makes a metro city in India. There is another category called mega-city. Ahmedabad was nominated to that status in the year 2005 annual budget. But I will look for more information about what constitutes as a metropolis in India. Till then, feel free to go through the Ahmedabad page and correct any mistakes that you find. - Aksi_great 15:37, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Jalpaiguri RajbariGate.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Jalpaiguri RajbariGate.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 20:38, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Calcutta Presidency

Hi! Since you told me that you read quite a lot of history of calcutta, can you kindly start the article Calcutta Presidency. That remains a red link in Kolkata. Thanks.--Dwaipayanc 12:02, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Darjeeling

Hi Arya, how are you doing? Have a look at Darjeeling. Say if something is grossly missing. You can also help by creating the article links that are in red colour in the article. I do not have much first hand knowledge of the place. I have been to there 2 times, but in younger age. In fact, I went there another time as adult, but only as a temporary stop after a trekking to Sandakphu. So I have forgit the details.

It would have been great if we could add something on the colonial architecture of the city, including the schools. At present, I think the article fails to portray Darjeeling as a largely colonial establishment. (It is really painful how we have mal-handled the Queen of the Hills). Please help. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 12:00, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

You can compare with Gangtok and Kalimpong both of which are featured articles thanks to Nichalp (talk contribs). Bye.--Dwaipayan (talk) 12:03, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:VidyasagarSetu.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:VidyasagarSetu.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 12:29, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jalpaiguri

I have not had an occasion to discuss anything with you. However, while editing some of the pages I had noticed your earlier contribution and maybe, at some places I have intruded into what you had written. I have been editing the town pages for quite sometime. I have recently added the district templates to the West Bengal town pages. For the districts with large number of towns, eg. in Bardhaman district and Hooghly district, I was trying to sort out the towns subdivision-wise and also add the police station to the page. These assist in better identification of the place. I have been using the information available here -> District-wise list of statutory towns In Jalpaiguri district I find that while at the time of 2001 census there were two subdivision but subsequently Mal subdivision was formed. I am not getting any information about which of the towns covered in Wikipedia are in Mal subdivision. I thought you would be able to enlighten me and so this message.
