Arvīds Pelše (also known as Arvid Yanovich Pelshe, Russian: Арвид Янович Пельше); February 7 [O.S. January 26] 1899 – May 29, 1983, Moscow) was a Soviet statesman.
A Bolshevik since 1915, his faithfulness to the Party made him rise to be one of the few non-Slavs full-members of the Politburo of the CPSU in 1966. Before that, from November 1959 till April 15, 1966, he was the First Secretary of Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Latvian SSR.
